Cavan club opens new pitch in Meath

There were some emotional moments yesterday when Virginia FC soccer club opened their new pitch at Pottlereagh, Carnaross in memory of the late Kieron King who passed away earlier this year.

A special guest at the opening was the late Kieron King's wife, Jackie and her daughters, Erin and Caitlin.

The opening and blessing of King's Park was performed by Fr Dermot Prior.

In March 2012, Virginia and Virginia under-age amalgamated to form one club and set to work on searching for a home ground.

The new clubs was offered a plot of land at Harten's Quarry in Carnaross and have put in a huge effort into developing the facility.

Virginia FC will have teams in the Meath & District League and North Eastern Counties Schoolboys' League this season.
