Toner gets ready for second test after storming display

Devin Toner won the man of the match award as Ireland carved out a momentous 26-20 victory over South Africa at the Newlands Stadium, Cape Town last Saturday and now the big Moynalvey man will look to help the visitors carve out another victory in the second test this weekend.

Saturday was the first time Ireland had ever defeated the South Africans on their own territory and the achievement was made even more commendable by the fact that the visitors had CJ Sanders sent off early in the game.

With Toner immense Ireland made light of the fact that they were a man down to go and achieve a momentous win before a crowd of 42,620.

The Irish scores came from tries from Jared Payne and Conor Murray as well as two conversions, three penalties and a drop goal scored by Paddy Jackson.

Afterwards an emotional Toner dedicated the win to his father Peter Toner who passed away shortly before the tour to South Africa started.

This Saturday coach Joe Schmidt takes his team to Johannesburg for the second test.

The build up to that game was intensified a few notches by comments made by South African coach Allister Coetzee who said Ireland 'weren't interested in playing' rugby in the first test.
