Meath players involved in more six nations glory

Meath players Jackie Shiels and Marie Louise Reilly played their parts as Ireland inflicted a 73-3 trouncing of Scotland to claim the Women's Six Nations Championship today.

The win comes less than 24 hours after Moynalvey's Devin Toner was part of the Irish side that won the Six Nations title for the second successive year after a day of high drama.

The Irish men's team defeated Scotland 40-10 on Saturday and then had to wait for a nail-biting finish at Twickenham as England fell short of the points tally they needed against France to claim the crown.

Afterwards Toner and his colleagues joined thousands of joyful Irish supporters at Murrayfield to celebrate the win.

For the Irish women's team it was more straightforward as they needed to beat Scotland by 26 points or more today and they easily did that running in 11 tries.

Shiels and Reilly started the game as the Irish quickly went about the business of clocking up the scores.

At the break it was 37-3 and the Irish team powered on to win their biggest ever victory in the Women's Six Nations.
