Toner signs new irfu contract

Moynalvey man Devin Toner has signed a new contract with the IRFU that will see him involved in the Irish set up until 2017 at least.

The 28-year-old can look back on a tremendous 2014 when he put in a series of highly impressive displays as Ireland won the Six Nations Championship.

Toner's achievements were recognised when he won the 'Meath Chronicle/Cusack Group Sport Person of the Month' award for February in recognition for his role in the memorable Six Nations campaign and his performances for Leinster.

Toner is highly regarded by Irish coach Joe Schmidt and has worked under the New Zealander in both the Irish and Leinster set ups.

Now one of the senior players with both Leinster and Ireland Toner has received plaudits for his good work in the line-out and the way he has taken on more responsibilities on the field of play.

“I have been with the province for almost a decade and during that time the club have invested a lot in my development and have given me the platform to reach my potential and achieve success at both provincial and national level,” he said.
