Devin Toner was no doubt delighted to be included in the first Irish squad announced by new coach Joe Schmidt yesterday.
Toner has been included as one of six locks in the 42-man squad for training camp in Carton House this weekend.
And this season is surely Toner's time to step up and nail down a regular place on the team for the forthcoming autumn/winter internationals and later the Six Nations.
On the international scene since he made his debut against Western Samoa back in 2010 Toner has found himself in a revolving door situation - in and out of the squad and team.
He performed well in the internationals against the USA Eagles and Canada at the end of last season and now is the time for him to push on and secure a place in the starting 15 in the really serious engagements such as the said Six Nations.
Only he can do it and wouldn't it be great to have a Meathman playing in the Six Nations, one of rugby's great tournaments.
