The start of the Streets of Athboy race

Streets of Athboy race runs smoothly

There was a big turnout for the Streets of Athboy 5k race hosted by the Fr Murphy club with runners from all over Leinster showing up for this, the fourth staging of the event last evening.

The race attracted athletes from far and wide and it was won by Shay Healy (Metro) in 15.49. There was no Meath runner in the top three but St Brigid's AC's Ger Heery finished strongly to head the local contingent.

Charlotte Kearney from Donadea AC was the first woman home with Shauna Moran (Dunshaughlin AC) second.

The organisers expressed themselves pleased with the way the race went through the streets of the town with the finish at the Convent Grounds.
