Grand Prix event set for Ballivor

Navan Road Club will hold their annual Ballivor Gand Prix cycle race on Saturday 5th July, 7.30

Sign on for this event takes place at McLoughlin’s Lounge and all categories will be catered for in the cycle.

The cyclist will cover three laps of a local circuit  and 50km in total, with the winner receiving the Ciaran Harte Perpetual Cup.  The Noel Dempsey Trophy will also be presented on the night.

The late Ciaran Harte organised this cycle for over a decade and was a long serving member of Navan Road Club.  

Cyclist from all over Ireland are expected to line up for this long established event including Navan Road Club members Niall Doggett, Stuart Cox, John Murray, John Kenny and Stephen Byrne who took part in this year’s An Post Ras.  

Also expected to be involved is last year’s winner of the event Bryan McCrystal. 

On Saturday morning friends of Ciaran’s will take part in the “Ballivor or Bust“ charity cycle for the ARC Cancer Support Centre. That will start at Teach na Teamhrach, Navan and will take in Kells, Athboy and finally Ballivor.  

On their journey the cyclist will visit Ardbraccan cemetery where they will place a wreath on the grave of their colleague Ciaran who was also a great supporter of the ARC Centre.
