The jury was out for about five minutes at the plush Generali Pan Europe offices this morning as the verdict for the King of the Fit for Fun Omelette 2014 was decided with both contestants - Jimmy Geoghegan from the Meath Chronicle and John Martin from Generali Pan Europe tried to contain their enthusiasm.

The cooking was adjourned but a verdict was returned - we were all singing 'Bye, bye ..........' as Pauric White made the announcement to fantastic applause.

We all cheered and the food disappeared quickly - then we all had to deal with reality - we had learned some crucial information about how to make an omelette - not a bad lesson for a February morning.
