Sara Treacy was in fine form in Dunboyne at the weekend.

Treacy tops the charts in Dunboyne

There was further success for Sara Treacy when she won the women's race at the Dunboyne Four-Mile Road Race on Sunday. Treacy again showed the kind of form that landed her the National Cross-country title at the end of last year to finish ahead of her nearest challenger in the women's race, an event that attracted 1,200 entries. Treacy was challenged in the opening two miles by Co Down runner Julie Turley but gradually the Moynalvey/Kilcloon athlete started to put distance between herself and her nearest rival. Treacy finished the course in a time of 21 minutes 59 seconds, 22 seconds ahead of Turley while Fiona Roche (Raheny) was third with Barbara Cleary (Cork) fourth. There was also success for another young, talented Meath runner when Shauna Moore claimed the women's junior event with Ciara Rooney (Navan) and Laura Farrell (Fr Murphy) third. The men's senior race was won by Joe Sweeney (Dundrum) in a time of 18 minutes 18 seconds with Thomas Fitzpatrick (Tallaght) second, Eddie McGinley (Annadale) third. The best local runner in the senior men's event was Rory Kavanagh (Dunboyne) in 16th place. The Dunboyne team of Kavanagh, Neville Reilly, Phelim Glynn and Luke Forde secured fourth place in the men's team category, the best of the local sides. The winners were Raheny Shamrocks. In the women's team category Dunshaughlin finished third with 113 points. The team was composed of Moore, Linda Fahy, Ursula Byrne and Olivia Daly. Sportsworld Terenure won the title with Donore Harriers second.
