Wallace lifts IPA u-18 title

Navan's Ciaran Wallace claimed the Irish Pool Association u-18 title in Tullamore last weekend and will be part of the Ireland team that will compete in the European Championships later in the year.
Wallace, who plays for Fox's A in the Meath Pool League, also reached the last 16 of the men's plate competition.
There was also success for Josh Byrne of Balreask A in Tullamore as he won the men's plate event and defeated his team mate Paul Tierney in the semi-final.
With no games in Div 1 of the Meath Pool League there were a couple of contest in Div 2 with Carnaross Inn stretching their lead at the top of the table following a 7-1 win over Thornes' of Kilmessan.
The Carnaross Inn got off to an excellent start with wins for Christy Gibney, Eugene Yore, Phil Yore, Paul Clarke and Killian Porter. The host's Wayne Gilmartin beat the Carnaross Inn captain Paul Dunne leaving the score 5-1 at the end of the singles matches.
After the break Carnaross Inn showed no mercy and won the next two matches to win the match with wins for Phil Yore and Eugene Yore and the pair of Killian Porter and Paul Dunne.
Carnaross Inn now lead Balreask B by four points after the Navan side had to settle for a 6-6 draw with hosts Chaser B.
Chaser started well and went 2-0 up before being pegged back to 2-2. After falling 2-3 behind Bective rallied to edge 4-3 ahead and maintained that advantage at 5-4. However Chaser then made a break for victory to lead 6-5 before Balreask snatched the last doubles to secure the draw.
