Kellett nominated for top motorsport award

Young Kells driver William Kellett is in the running to follow in the footsteps of current Young Racing Driver of the Year Cian Carey from Ratoath.

The talented Kells driver is one of six nominees for the Irish Young Racing Driver of The Year award.

"This is my second year in-a-row to get a nomination and I am the youngest driver selected so far," William told the Meath Chronicle.

Six drivers are selected throughout the year and the winner also receives €50,000 in prizemoney, last year Cian Carey won the top prize.

"For 2017 I started in the Fiesta ST class but a heavy crash at the start of the season forced me to change to the Fiesta Zetec class," added William.

"I immediately ran at the front scoring three wins, five podiums and two pole positions.

"I will be contesting the full Fiesta Zetec championship next year in an attempt to become the youngest Irish Fiesta champion," he concluded.
