Smith on the mark at Boyne Grand Prix

Moynalty's Shane Smith was the big local winner at the Boyne GP at Gormanlough on Sunday afternoon as he claimed the top prize in the Senior A4 race ahead of a packed field.

Over 120 riders went to the start for the 60k A4 race and despite fast racing over the entire race there were still close to 90 riders in contention for honours as the event reached its conclusion.

However, at the flag it was Smith from Moynalty CC who burst out of the pack within sight of the line, to score his second and most impressive win of the season.

Smith was followed closely in second place by Callum 0’Toole from the Orwell CC with Stamullen Road Club rider Sean Landers finishing a close third.

The Senior A2 race went to Adam Stenson from Team Bikeworx CC who claimed a clear victory from Mark Kiernan (Murphy Surveys) with Odhran Connors (Orwell Wheelers) in third. Ladies honours went to Catherine McAteer from the Garda CC.

Slane's Ian Richardson suffered mechanical problems early on in the Senior A1 race and was forced out of action leaving the way clear for Lucan's Con McDunphy to claim the spoils.
