Reilly in line for another Grand Slam

Marie Louise Reilly is in line to win her second Women's Six Nations Grand Slam after the Summerhill lock forward helped Ireland to a 12-7 win over Wales at Cardiff Arms Park earlier today.

The Summerhill woman was an ever-present member of the Irish team as they marched to a Grand Slam title in 2013.

It was a rare achievement for Ireland at any level and now history can be repeated if Tom Tierney's side defeated England next weekend.

With victories over Scotland, France and Italy Reilly and her colleagues hand reason to go into today's game in confident mood.

With the help of Lindsey Peat try and a Nora Stapleton conversion they led 7-0 at the break.

Wales came back strongly in the second-half and thanks partly to a try from Shona Powerll-Hughes they got back on level terms.

However, Ireland dug deep and engineered an unconverted try from Hannah Tyrrell that proved to be a match winner.

Now Reilly and the team will spend this week preparing for the game against England at Donnybrook on Friday evening, 8pm.

England lead the table after a 64-0 win over Scotland today.

Another Meath lock forward Devin Toner will also be preparing this week for a game against England on Saturday next at the Aviva Stadium, 5pm.

He was left disappointed last night after Joe Schmidt's Ireland suffered a huge dent in their hopes of winning the championship when they lost to Wales, 9-22.

It was a disappointing display by Ireland with the line-out malfunctioning a few times. Wales made the most of their chances and stole ball from three of Ireland's own throws, two of them before Toner was replaced by Iain Henderson in the second-half.
