Cycleways Cup in Navan on Sunday

Navan Road Club will promote the Cycleways Cup races from the Simonstown GAA centre with sign-on for all races at 10am on Sunday.

Racing will get underway at 12.30pm with the Senior A1 race for the Cycleways Cup over three laps of the Kilberry, Gormanlough, Slane, Woodtown, Wilkinstown circuit, a total distance of 105km.

The Senior A2 race will follow and will cover the same course and distance with the Senior A3 and Senior A4 race completing two laps, a total distance of 70km.

All races will finish at Wilkinstown National School.

The Cycleways Cup was won last year by Damian Shaw from Mullingar who raced with the ChainReaction team.

Slane man, Ian Richardson, who races with the UCD squad, finished third in this same race last year and given his class, strength and ability over last season, it will be no great surprise to see him deeply involved at the business end of things next Sunday.

SATURDAY

Dublin Wheelers will get the season underway on action will get underway on Saturday morning at 10.30am from Summerhill Community Centre with a series of races for senior category riders.

First race off will be the Senior A1/A2 Mick Lally Memorial (87.8km) and this will be followed by the Senior A3 (65.1km) with the winner receiving the Ian Gallagher Memorial trophy.

The Senior A4 race will cover a distance of 42.4km.
