Marie Louise Reilly

Meath players get ready to face Scots

Summerhill's Maz Reilly is set to add to her collection of international caps after she was named on the Ireland team to face Scotland in the Women's Six Nations opener at Broadway Stadium, Glasgow on Friday evening, 6.35 while another Meath player, Jennie Finlay, is named as a replacement.

Reilly will take up her position in her normal lock-forward position as the Irish look to start their campaign with a win.

Reilly, who has already earned over 40 caps, is in her mid-thirties and one of the most experienced players in a matchday squad of 23 that contains five new caps including Finlay who formerly turned out for Navan before moving on to her current club Old Belvedere.

Jennie, is the daughter of current Navan RFC chairman Leo Finlay

However absent from both the team and the list of replacements is Navan player Jackie Shiels who was part of the international set-up last year.

Ailsa Hughes starts at scrum-half against Scotland to win her first cap while other uncapped players among the replacements are IIse van Staden, Ciara O'Connor and Eimear Considine.

If Finlay wins a cap on Friday she will join a list of former Navan players capped at senior international level that includes Reilly, Shiels, Sinead Ryan and Orla Brennan.

Friday's game will be shown live on RTE 2.
