Ryan and Kearney best in Robbie Byrne Memorial Road Race

Some 271 enthusiasts made the starting line for today's Robbie Byrne Memorial 5km Road Race promoted by Navan AC from Claremont Stadium where Raheny Shamrock's Simon Ryan took the laurels in 16m:07s in front of an appreciative crowd.

Scott Hazell from the UK (Coventry Godiva) was 25 se conds adrift in the runner-up position with Andrew Kinane of Donore Harriers in third place. The best placed local, Bohermeen's Liam Murray was in fifth.

The best woman was Charlotte Kearney (Donadea) in 18:05 with Navan's Ciara Rooney in second and Na Fianna's Mary Hanley in third.
