Helen wheels away to big race victory

Meath woman Helen Mooney from Curraha landed the Ladies Derby Handicap at the Curragh this evening when she partnered the Adrian Keatley-trained Zeftan to an impressive win in the €30,000 handicap.

Zeftan won by nine lengths from the well-backed Udogu and Modem and was winning for the first time since landing the same race two years ago.

“He had 4lb less than when he won it two years ago and Helen was taking off 7lb so it worked out well,' commented the trainer in a post-race interview on irishracing.com

The winning rider is a daughter of Paddy and Maureen Mooney and was delighted with the win.

'Adrian had him spot on and he ran a cracker, I only had to sit there, It's hard to get a ride in these races so I was delighted to get a spin,' she commented.
