Good turnout for Dunboyne AC- promoted road race

There was a good turnout tonight for the second annual Dunboyne AC-promoted Clonee 10k road race this evening with some 363 athletes heading off from the starting line.

Talented athlete Peter Brandon Somba took the laurels in a time of 31 minutes with plenty to spare from runner-up Karol Cronin from Sportsworld with Shane O'Neill of Rathfarnham in third place.

Shercock athlete Catherina Mullen, who trains with the Dunboyne club, took the ladies race in 37:23 ahead of Dunboyne duo Emilia Dan and Laura Buckley.

The route was flat and fast and this brought out some quality runners.

However, the weather had turned blustery and that made it slightly more difficult for runners.

Dunboyne AC hosted the event as a fundraiser to develop club facilities to cater for the growing demands on the club.

Prizes were awarded to age categories and teams and refreshments were available in the Grasshopper.

The team prizes were warded to Dunboyne in both mens and ladies.
