Denise Foster on the mark at Bellewstown

Winners for Foster and Mulvany

Enfield trainer Denise Foster had a nice winner on the opening day of the Bellewstown Festival when seven-pound claimer Oisin Orr completed his first double when he won on Phoenix Twist in a handicap.

The young jockey had also won an earlier race.

Phoenix Twist was previously trained by Ger Lyons back in 2013.

This evening Phoenix Twist was produced with a late challenge to hold off the the Pat Flynn-trained Dixie Highway by half a length with Rightdownthemiddle back in third for another Meath trainer, Michael Mulvany.

The Gordon Elliott-trained Buonarotti Boy was sent off favourite, but finished last for Pat Smullen.

MICHAEL MULVANY

Meath trainer Michael Mulvany made the long trip to Tipperary today pay-off when his runner Jembatt followed up on a win at Down Roayl 12 days ago to win again when landing a handicap with Gary Carroll on board.

Mulvany's runner prevailed by a head from Hatton's Cross to scoop the first prize of almost €7,000 in the seven and a half furlongs contest.

The Mulvany horse won't have too much time for eating oats as a race at 7.05pm over a slightly longer distance is targeted for Bellewstown tomorrow and the trainer indicated that Jembatt is likely to run again.
