Radar spot on for Lyons at The Curragh

Kiltale trainer Ger Lyons got his Irish Derby weekend off to a positive start when he saddled the winner of the final race at The Curragh tonight with top Trim jockey Colin Keane on board.

Keane got a winning run out of Radar O’Reilly to compensate for a couple of runner-up efforts at Leopardstown and Gowran Park in May and April.

Owned by Sean Jones, the three-year-old won the concluding 10-furlong maiden maiden with more than a length to spare at the post.

“We've had a frustrating few weeks with a good few seconds, so it's nice to get that ahead of this weekend,' commented the trainer in a post-race interview on irishracing.com

'He loved it out in front, and he enjoyed the ground. I thought he would be ‘done’ by the trip as he gets further but it was a very good ride by Colin,' added the popular handler who may be shouting for Kildare in the opener at Croke Park on Sunday?

Ger could be the man to follow at the Kildare track tomorrow where he has a number of runners with realistic chances. He is now on 20 winners for the season while Colin Keane is on 23 ahead of tomorrow's action.
