First juvenile winner for Gavin Cromwell

It has been a good few months for local trainer Gavin Cromwell with some high-profile wins in big national hunt races, but now he has made an impact on the flat after he saddled his first two-year-old winner tonight at Leopardstown.

The bottom-weight Pandagreen, a €9,500 purchase at Goffs, prevailed despite a wide draw and traffic problems in the opening Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Auction Race at the Foxrock track.

Wayne Lordan was forced to race wide throughout and Pandagreen was bumped from horses on her inside before halfway before staying on well for a half length win over Lady Volante.

Eddie Lynam was also on the mark when he won a seven-furlong contest with Midnight Crossing to add to his winner at Naas yesterday where Future Icon won for his wife Aileen.
