Bangor winner for Crawley

Young Meath trainer Shane Crawley (pictured) made the trip from Macetown, Tara to Bangor in Wales today and recorded a fine win with Lily Yeats in a mares maiden hurdle.

The five-year-old was having her first run outside Ireland and after four promising outings in bumpers and hurdles got her head in front at the popular Welsh track.

Crawley's filly had five lengths to spare from the Irish trained favourite Siena Bouquet.

Crawley has about half a dozen horses in training at his Meath base and had a winner on New Year's Day last January at Fairyhouse when Cashelard Lady romped home for Robbie Colgan.

He had three winners last season with Cashelard Lady winning twice and Court Challenge also successful.

Another Meath trainer, Thomas Coyle from Batterstown also had a runner at Bangor todday in a novice chase - Mclaren Vale was sent off favourite but fell at the third fence.
