The Old Bridge Inn A booked their place in the Navan & District Darts League Div 1 final following a thrilling 4-3 win over Lantern A in Tara na Ri on Monday night.
In the first game of the night Ronan Barron had a couple of strong checkouts to get the better of Ian Dowdall 3-0 and get the Old Bridge off to a flying start before Damien Doyle levelled it up when he saw off Noel Mulhall on a similar scoreline.
In the night’s third match Fergus McKeown beat James Bellew 3-0 before Derek Reynolds tied it up against when he hit a 180 and checked out 72 on route to a 3-1 win over Pat McGowan. The see-saw nature of the contest continued with Alan Donoghue defeating Ian Kells 3-1 to give Lantern a lead, but John McLoughlin saw off Shane McDonagh 3-1 to ensure the contest was tied 3-3 heading into the final match.
In that final game Lantern’s Barry Ward took on Stephen Kells Junior and after sharing the first four legs it was Kells who clinched it for the Old Bridge to claim the 4-3 win.
In the Div 2 semi-final Maguire’s of Kentstown defeated Tara na Ri in the Old Bridge Inn to secure their final spot.
Dane O’Connor went in first against Alan Hughes and won 3-2. Shane Curtis had a good 3-0 win over Roy Maguire, while in the third game Peter Hackett defeated Paul Murphy 3-2.
Stephen Duffy saw off Matthew O’Connor 3-2, while Owen O’Connor got the better of Arron Curtis 3-0 to give Magurie’s a 3-2 lead. After the interval Pat Callan levelled it up with a 3-2 win over Caloac Monaghan and in the final game James Rattigan secured Maguire’s final spot with a 3-0 win over Anthony Kearney.
Next Monday night will see Teach na Teamhrach take on the Round O in the second Div 1 semi-final in Slane House, while the secopnd Div 2 semi-final betweem Lantern B and Slane House will take place in the Round O.
