Andrew Lynch maintains good strike-rate

Ashbourne jockey Andrew Lynch landed a 50/1 winner at Fairyhouse yesterday for his 56th success of the season. The Ashbourne man could be in with a good chance of winning the Coral-sponsored Scottish Grand National on Saturday week with the Stuart Crawford-trained Fine Rightly.

Yesterday at Fairyhouse, Lynch was on board Festive Day for Galway handler Norman Lee and won the beginners chase from another 50/1 chance Boite A Musique which was a distance adrift at the post.

The even-money favourite Fine Article unseated Robbie Power at the second fence after making a mistake and was then bumped.

Second favourite Dallas Cowboy cut out the running with Festive Day challenging entering the straight before going on to win well.

Be The Hero capitalised when Seven Nation Army's fell at the last to win the opening two-mile maiden hurdle for trainer Gordon Elliott

Ardcath jockey Ger Fox partnered the Adrian Murray-trained Killaro Boy to victory in a handicap hurdle.

It was a debut outing in handicap company for the point-to-point winner which won at Dowth Hall for the Westmeath trainer last October.

The Dermot McLoughlin-trained Uptake landed the 80-95 handicap hurdle. Uptake only returned to the track this January after a lay-off of three years.

“He's had leg troubles and we were waiting on a bit of nice ground with him,” commented the Ratoath trainer.
