Cian oconnor helps ireland to aga khan

Meath-based Cian O'Connor helped Ireland to victory in the Aga Khan Trophy for the first time since 2012 at the Dublin Horse Show at the RDS today. O’Connor with his new horse Good Luck was making its first appearance and delivered on the day.


O’Connor, who won the Meath Sportsperson of the Year award for 2012, was celebrating his 100th Nations’ Cup cap for Ireland.

The other members of the team were Bertram Allen with Romanov, Greg Broderick on the Irish Sport Horse MHS Going Global and Offaly’s Darragh Kenny and Sans Souci Z


Team Manager Robert Splaine paid tribute to his his team's hard work and said: 'This was a momentous occasion for us, as it always is when we win in front of the home crowd, whose enthusiasm always lifts our game, this Aga Khan victory falls in with our overall plan.'

Ireland now stay in Division One of the Furusiyya FEI Nations’ Cup league for 2016.

The Netherlands took second while Switzerland finished third.
