Tough conditions for south ohanlon road race

Star of the Sea athlete Eoin O'Callaghan took the laurels tonight in the 28th running of the South O'Hanlon Road Race which started from Beauparc Station with some 220 participants braving the hot and humid conditions.

O'Callaghan set a time of 15m: 31s ahead of second home Brian McCluskey (North East Runners) in 15.46 and in third place was Peter Mooney (16.14) with Paddy Maher (Dunshaughlin) in fourth (16.20)

The top woman was from Portlaoise with Sinead Eachrett (St Michael's) taking the first place on the podium in 18.37 ahead of Orla Timmons (Star of the Sea) in 18.44 and Ann Linden (Carrick Aces) in 18.50.

The race was headquartered in the customary Seneschalstown GAA Centre and the prizes were presented in the clubhouse.

Spectators lined the route to provide encouragement and a number of runners commented at the finishing line that conditions were tough due to the weather conditions.
