Boost for geraghty ahead of return to action

Although sidelined with an injury, top Meath jockey Barry Geraghty has been named as a replacement for the the recently-retired Tony McCoy by leading racehorse owner JP McManus.

Geraghty has been assocuated with UK trainer Nicky Henderson since 2008 but will now focus on his new role.

The Drumree man has enjoyed success on a regular basis for McManus with the likes of More Of That, Jezki and Shutthefrontdoor.

Former top jockey and now McManus reacing manager Frank Berry confirmed the new arrangement at Kilbeggan on Monday evening.

Geraghty sustained a broken leg last March in a fall but is expected to return to action next week.
