Injury concern for barry geraghty

Top Meath jockey Barry Geraghty went to hospital in Dublin this afternoon after he sustained a leg injury following a fall in a hurdle race at Downpatrick.

Geraghty was riding for trainer Edward O'Grady and was on board Sailors Warn which took a crashing fall at the second last flight while in with a chance of winning.

'He's either got bruising on the bone or a possible fracture,' stated Irish Turf Club chief medical officer Dr Adrian McGoldrick

Geraghty was on duty at Newbury on Friday and Saturday for trainer Nicky Henderson and had two booked rides at Downpatrick today.

The Drumree man did not take his ride in the next race - Jumptoconclusions finished third - and later in the afternoon it was confirmed he was going to get his leg looked at.

FIRST WINNER

There was also a debut training success at the Ulster track today for Peter Kavanagh who trains at Neilstown Stud and was for many years associated with Noel Meade.

Today, he had his first winner when Town Pond won a handicap chase for Ger Fox who is now with the Castletown trainer. Ger, from Ardcath, got Town Pond home in front of Ardmillan by a neck - Ardmillan was riddent by Ger's twin brother Anthony.
