Flat racing award for eddie lynam

Dunshaughlin-based trainer Eddie Lynam won his first Flat Award and one of his stable stars, Sole Power, was crowned Horse of the Year at the 12th annual Horse Racing Ireland Awards held at Leopardstown Racecourse this week.

Owned by Sabina Power, Sole Power completed a fantastic Group 1 double during the summer months, winning the Kings Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot for the second consecutive year and the Nunthorpe Stakes at York.

Eddie was presented with the Flat Award following a memorable year with both Sole Power and Slade Power, who between them won four of the five Group 1 sprints in Britain.

Anthem Alexander crowned a wonderful week for Lynam at Royal Ascot as she took the Queen Mary Stakes, while later in the year she finished placed in both the Lowther Stakes at York and the Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket. Lynam also sent out over 25 winners at home which included wins for Viztoria in the Waterford Testimonial Stakes and Slade Power in the Greenlands Stakes, both races at the Curragh.
