Maguire back in the saddle

Kilmessan's Jason Maguire will return to racing at Newton Abbot on Friday six months after he was in a coma following a fall.

Maguire, who won the 2011 Grand National on Ballabriggs, suffered a fractured sternum and had part of his liver removed after a fall at Stratford.

'I'm thrilled to be back,' said 34-year-old Maguire, who was hurt on the eve of March's Cheltenham Festival.

His first ride is Bonne Fee in the mares' novice hurdle  at 2.15.

After partnering the horse trained by Kim Bailey, he will ride Mr Satco for Donald McCain at the Devon track before one ride at Worcester's evening meeting - on Toe to Toe, trained by Lucy Jones.

'It's been a long time watching on the sidelines and I'm really looking forward to it,' said Maguire, the nephew of former top jockey Adrian.

He was injured at Stratford when unseated from his mount Scots Gaelic in a handicap hurdle and kicked in the stomach by another horse.
