Maguire achieves the magical 100

Meath jockey Jason Maguire notched up his 100th winner of the season at Doncaster today when he guided 2/5 favourite Diamond King to victory in the Download The All New National Hunt Novices Hurdle.

This was the fourth time Maguire, from Kilmessan, achieved the 100-winner mark in his career with Diamond King comfortably making it past the post ahead of the rest of the field for trainer Donald McCain.

“It’s great to do it for Donald, and if you’d said to me at the start of the season I’d get 100 by January, I’d take it,” Maguire was reported as saying afterwards.

McCain was not committing himself one way or the other when it came to the question of whether Diamond King will feature at Cheltenham.
