Gordon Elliott made a good start to his visit to Cheltenham when he won the second race on the card with Carlito Brigante owned by Gigginstown House Stud.
The only other Irish runner in the race, Go All The Way, fell at the second last.
Carlito Brigante was held up early on and was sent to the front from the second last. Despite some bumping on the run in, Davy Russell held on for victory.
There was also a stewards' enquiry, but no alterations were made.
