Meath trainer Joanna Morgan on the mark at Laytown
Meath trainer Joanna Morgan provided top amateur jockey Patrick Mullins with his first winner on the beach this evening at the annual Laytown races.
Mullinas had ridden a winner at every other track in Ireland except Laytown until today, but won a seven-furlong handicap with Six Silver Lane for the Ballivor handler under a massive 12-3.
There was stewards enquiry but no alterations were made.
Six Silver Lane had previously won on a similar surface up the road at Dundalk last May and could nbow be on the way to the salesyard.
The trainer was double-handed in the race with Xsquared which finished down the feild while the Ger Lyons-trained Solent Ridge (fifth) was sent off favourite.
The jackpot pool of over €8,000 was not won and there was a healthy return of over €100,000 bet on the Tote at the one-day meeting that continues to survive and prosper.
Another jockey, Paul Townend was also winning at the track for the first time when Mt Weather (a regular) won well over six furlongs.
Video shows the second race where Navan jockey Andrew Thornton didn't really have a willing partner in Captain May (finished second).
