Meath paid the price for some defensive slackness as they lost out to Laois in the opening round of the National Camogie League Div 3 campaign at Ashbourne today.

The home side led briefly in the opening minutes however, Laois soon exerted control and were in front 2-4 to 1-2 at the break with Jane Dolan netting for Meath while Aine Mahony and Niamh Dollard conjured up goals for Laois.

Aine Keogh and Elizabeth Oakes also broke through to add further goals for Meath in the second-half, but Laois powered on to win comfortably.
