Trainer Tom Gibney in the winners' enclosure at Fairyhouse today

Not the National but it's a winner for Gibney

It might not be as big a win as when he won the 2012 Irish Grand national with Lion na Bearnai, but trainer Tom Gibney can bask in the limelight briefly on Grand National Day again at Fairyhouse.

Today the Trim-based Gibney was on the mark with the Kevin Haigney-owned Ah Littleluck which had the benefit of top Ashbourne jockey Andrew Lynch on board.

Gibney's charge landed the Fairyhouse Steel Handicap Hurdle from another Meath-trained runner, Miles To Memphis which is trained by Denise Foster.

Last week at Navan, Gibney's Rare Conor was fourth in a good hurdle race and the trainer was disappointed that he hadn't won, but the win today will go smoe way towards making amends for that.

Gibney has another runner today, Stoughan Cross, owned by the Moynalty Partnership, and it runs in the race after the National.
