Colin Keane was on the mark with Medicine Jack at Naas today

Naas opening day double for Lyons and Keane

The Ger Lyons and Colin Keane show arrived in Naas this afternoon for the opening day of the 2018 Flat season and duly delivered a double for owner Sean Jones.

Keane and Lyons got off the mark for 2018 at Dundalk on Friday night, but today was the offficial start of the turf season and they won with Medicine Jack and Bobby Boy.

Medicine Jack had a head to spare over the Jim Bolger-trained Smash Williams with Gymkhana in third place in a tight finish to a six-furlong handicap.

Bobby Boy made a successful racecourse debut in the concluding one-mile maiden getting the better of the Aidan O'Brien-trained Full Moon to bring up the double.

Of Booby Boy, the trainer said: "He's been doing everything right at home. He has a hood on him because he's a bit buzzy."
