Keane five clear after today's action

Trim jockey Colin Keane remains five clear of defending champion Pat Smullen after the action at Navan today.

The race for the 2017 flat jockeys' title is approaching the home straight with the finald ay of the turf season set for Naas on Sunday 5th November.

Keane was in action at Navan today and emerged with his lead on five intact after he won on the Ger Lyons-trained Il Piccolo Grande.

Smullen had moved to within four of Keane earlier on the card after winning a five-furlong contest withThe Broghie Man.

Separately, Noel Meade was also in the winners' enclosure on the flat card when Art Of Security, a winner of a maiden hurdle at Naas last January, gave Jonathan Moore his first winner on the flat.

The winner had previously won a bumper at Navan in 2015 when trained by Sandra Hughes.

For Gordon Elliott there was also a winner when Synopsis won the last race on the card, but it was a day to forget for the Summerhill man who lost champion bumper winner Fayonagh after breaking a hind leg on the Skryne gallops this morning.
