Busy weekend for Lyons and Keane

Meath trainer Ger Lyons and jockey Colin Keane face a hectic schedule at Dundalk, Corrk and Naas this weekend.

Lyons and another Meath trainer Sheila Lavery will be heading to Naas on Sunday with prospects of success on a competitive card.

Prior to that both Lyons and Keane will be hoping to add to their tally of winners for the season at Dundalk tonight and at Cork tomorrow before heading to the Kildare track on Sunday.

The action at Naas will see the final race in the Foran Equine Auction Series with a field of 16 set to go to post for the €120,000 contest.
 

The valuable seven-furlong contest has attracted the highly-rated Ball Girl for Ger Lyons, who also has Burmese Blazer in the race, and Sheila Lavery’s Quizical while there is British representation in the race with Mick Channon’s Apple Anni and course winner Powersville for trainer Tom Mullins.
 
The At The Races Birdcatcher Nursery is as competitive as always with Jim Bolger double handed with Gasta and two-time winner Solar Wave. 

Naas debut winner T For Tango will represent James Nash and another Naas maiden winner, Moonlight Bay, will have a first start for trainer Ger Lyons since joining from Kevin Prendergast.
 
Jessica Harrington’s I’m So Fancy tops the ratings for the Listed Clodovil Irish EBF Garnet Stakes. 

Ireland’s current leading jockey, Colin Keane, will aim to win the race for a third year in a row when partnering the dual winner Elegant Pose for Ger Lyons. Aidan O’Brien has r four of the 14 runners declared for the race.
 
The eight-race card at Naas begins at 1.20pm.

The Meath Chronicle will have an update tonight after racing at Dundalk as jockey Colin Keane battles it out at the top of the table for the title with defending champion Pat Smullen.
