Jimmy Flanagan at the awards tonight

"Unexpected Dreaper double" says award winner Flanagan

Jimmy Flanagan from Ashbourne was an award winner tonight at the Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards at the Newpark Hotel in Kilkenny where Shona Dreaper was also in the winners' enclosure on behalf of Punchestown racecourse.

The awards recognise and reward the hard work and dedication of stud and stable staff and the huge contribution they make to the Irish racing industry.

A farrier for over 40 years since taking over from his father, Jimmy has a long association with the Dreaper yard at Kilsallaghan and in a brief interview after he received the award from GAA legend Brian Cody he commented

'It's a long time since the Dreaper yard had a double and I wasn't expecting it to happen tonight - Shona put me up to that one,' he remarked.
