The Gordon Elliott-trained Apple's Jade and Bryan Cooper

Apple is sweet for Gordon's second Cheltenham winner

Gordon Elliott maintained his winning form on the opening day of the Cheltenham Festival when a second winner arrived in the form of Apple's Jade in the Mares' Hurdle with Bryan Cooper on board.

Apple's Jade produced a battling performance after jumping the last to overhaul the Willie Mullins-trained duo of Vroum Vroum Mag in second and third-placed 6/4 favourite Limini.

Gavin Cromwell's runner Jer's Girl was just beginning to make some ground when she fell in the closing stages.

This was Elliott's second winner of the day - he also won the opener with Labiak.
