Adrian Maguire may give up training

Kilmessan man Adrian Maguire disclosed today after he won a race at Thurles that he is considering giving up training.

Maguire was on the mark with Knockraha Pylon in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Beginners Chase , but in an interview
with At The Races stated that he had to assess his situation with only five horses at the moment

'Things are getting tougher and tougher for everyone training horses and I just can't make ends meet now. It's costing me money to be training horses,' Maguire told At The Races.

'It's getting tougher, I'm not the only one, but that's the way it is with me.'

The Meath native returned to Ireland to train after he was forced to retire as a jockey following a bad fall at Warwick in 2002.

His son Finny is a talented amateur jockey and almost completed a double for his dad today at Thurles when finishing third in the final race on the card on Gagas Horse which was having its first run on the track.
