Waiting for the weight

It's a case of a waiting game for local trainers following the announcement of the weights for the Aintree Grand National with the big race scheduled for early April.

The three locally-trained horses that are not guaranteed a run include the Dermot McLoughlin-trained Vics Canvas, third last year,
and the Gavin Cromwell-trained Raz De Maree, they are both just outside the 10-7 lowest-weighted guaranteed runner at the moment.

The Jim Dreaper-trained Sizing Coal (9-7) is unlikely to make it, but the Noel Meade-traiend duo of Road To Riches and Wounded Warrior are in while Gordon Elliott has plenty of options also.

Currently the last horse guaranteed a place in the 40-strong line-up is the David Pipe-trained Vieux Lion Rouge (10st 7lb),

There are a total 37 of the 109 horses left in the race trained in Ireland.
