Two more keeps Gordon clear

The on-going duel between Gordon Elliott and Willie Mullins in the race for the national hunt trainers' title continued at Fairyhouse today where both men recorded a double, but Elliott won more prizemoney for his two races and is now approx €260,000 ahead of the defending champion.

Elliott took the listed bumper with Fayonagh with a margin of 20 lengths on a debut run for the Longwood-based handler. Elliott also won a grade three hurdle with Shattered Love.

Mullins was on the mark in a beginners chase with Retour En France and a maiden hurdle with Bleu Berry both ridden by Ruby Walsh.

The Noel Meade-trained Texas Jack returned to winning ways in a three-mile, one furlong chase and could be heading for the Irish Grand National in April.

Barry Geraghty's stint in the UK continued today where he was on the mark with a possible Champion Hurdle contender when he won with the JP McManus-owned Buveur D'Air which returned to the smaller obstacles after two wins over fences.

Trainer Nicky Henderson decided a few days ago to revert to hurdles tand his 1/4 favourite cruised past Rayvin Black close home to win easily.
