Trainer Sheila Lavery.

Gift in less than a minute

Over jumps or on the flat, it doesn't seem to matter for Agher (Summerhill) trainer Sheila Lavery at the moment as she took the opener at Dundalk last night when Danz Gift won a five-furlong handicap in 59.49 seconds.

Jockey Ronan Whelan made his move inside the final furlong and got up close home to score by a neck from the PJ Prendergast-trained Go Kart.

'I was a bit disappointed that he didn’t win the last day but things just didn’t go his way, hopefully the handicapper won’t kill us,' commented the trainer who had her first winner over jumps in a novice chase at Fairyhouse two weeks ago.

The Sean Jones colours were in the winners enclosure when Ger Lyons and Colin Keane took the Kelleher Insurances Rated Race with Rock In Peace which took the lead inside the final furlong.

Moynalty man Declan McDonogh was also on the mark with the John Oxx-trained Magen's Moon in a fillies' maiden.
