First Double for Dermot

Ratoath-based trainer Dermot McLoughlin didn't have too far to travel home from nearby Fairyhouse yesterday after he recorded his first double with Meath jockeys Keith Donoghue and Danny Hand on the mark.

For Navan jockey Hand it was his second winner after he was successfull at Punchestown on New Year's Eve also for McLoughlin.

Yesterday at Fairyhouse Larry Capri gave the local handler a quick brace in the three-mile handicap only 30 minutes after Dunshaughlin man Donoghue had partnered Clontarf to victory in a debut run over the major obstacles in a beginners chase.

The Gavin Cromwell-trained Prospectus won again with local jockey Brien Kane on board for the members of the McAlpine Syndicate which includes Dave Keena and Denis Kirwan along with local man Brendan Swan, the former one-arm world golf champion.

Kilcock trainer Vincent Ward enjoyed his first victory since 2012 when Western Goose won a two-and-a-half mile handicap hurdle while Cortown jockey Roger Loughran was on the mark for trainer Sandra Hughes.
