Navan businessmen smiling at Leopardstown

Navan businessmen and racing enthusiasts Eamonn Duignan and Bernard Woods were smiling today at Leopardstown when Joey Sasa landed the Thorntons Recycling Maiden Hurdle for trainer Noel Meade after going close last time out at Navan.

Joey Sasa won bumpers at Galway and Down Royal at the end of October and beginning of November and was then second twice over hurdles at Navan in November and December.

Today, Sean Flanagan challenged on the outside entering the straight and Joey Sasa kept on well to beat the Gordon Elliott-trained Barra and the Willie Mullins-trained Castello Sforza in third.

“He was beaten by a good horse in Navan and I really thought he would win today,' stated the trainer.

TOMORROW
An interesting runner in the opener (juvenile hurdle) at Leopardstown tomorrow is the Luke Comer-trained Mystique Heights which won over one-mile and six furlongs last July on the flat at Sandown when trained by Sir Mark Prescott.

Another one to watch tomorrow is the Jimmy Swan-owned Raz De Maree trained by Gavin Cromwell which will be bidding for the Welsh National at Chepstow and won't be inconvenienced by the three miles and five furlongs with Ger Fox on board.
