Loughran winner at Thurles

Cortown jockey Roger Loughran was on the mark at Thurles today for his fifth winner of the season and his third in 21 days when he was on the mark with Shouband in a handicap chase at the Tipperary track.

Loughran got to the front approaching the last and Shouband kept on gamely on the run-in to win from Rockshandy by four lengths with the Gerry Keane-trained Effernock Lad in third place

Seven-pound claimer Cian Collins from Newbridge brought home Gordon Elliott's 73rd winner of the season when De Plotting Shed won a 2m6f hurdle with plenty to spare.

Elliott's runner moved up from the second last and held off the challenge of Bentelimar by five lengths.
