Noel Meade appoints Wexford man to replace Paul Carberry

Castletown trainer Noel Meade has appointed Wexford man Sean Flanagan as his stable jockey following the retirement of Paul Carberry.

Flanagan has already partnered winners for Meade, the most recent was She'a A Star at Listowel last week.

Flanagan's first ride in his 'official' role for his new boss could well be on Tiger Sam which is also owned by the trainer at Downpatrick on Friday in a chase.

Meade's colours (white with a red hoop) were the coloursthe trainer wore himself when he partnered his first winner as an amateur jockey with Tu Va in a 1971 maiden hurdle.

Could be an omen to back the horse on Friday?
