There was plenty of Meath cheer at Fairyhouse today when the Liam McAteer-trained Croisultan won the feature race, the Belgrave Stakes.

Croisultan chased the leaders before eventually getting his head in front inside the final furlong on ground that was to his liking.

"It's great to win a Listed race with Croisultan and hopefully we will go for a group three race next," the trainer told the Meath Chronicle.

Pat Smullen opted to ride Snaefell, but Ben Curtis proved to be an able deputy and has the makings of a top class jockey," added the trainer.

Shouts of 'Up the Royal' greeted Croisultan on his return to the parade ring as members of the syndicate from the Kilberry and Oristown areas turned out in large numbers for the occasion.
