Silver strikes gold

Profile by Conall Collier

Michael Mulvany, who trains outside Navan, was on the mark this evening at the local Bellewstown meeting which was dominated by Meath winners.

Mulvaney saw his grey filly The Silver Crown win for the first time at the 13th attempt when she landed the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Median Auction Maiden by a head from Scots Gaelic.

Gary Carroll, grandson of the legendary Frankie Carroll, rode The Silver Crown for the Mulvany family which is owned by Larry Mulvany and trained by his son.

Moynalty jockey Declan McDonogh was in double form for trainer Ken Condon and won with Perino in the Aviva Drogheda Maiden in good style ahead of Ibelieveinmiracles.

McDonogh completed the double when he scored with Third Intention in a maiden.
